Part time Gambling Counselor

POSITION TYPE: Part-time
HOURS: Sat/Sunday-- online
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master's Degree in Human Service Discipline or Clinical with appropriate licensure
Experience: Direct service experience with clients in approved practicum
Skills: Demonstrated experience in providing clinical and wellness services to a variety of customers.
PREFERRED
Master's degree or above in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other human services related discipline.
60 hours of Gambling training/certification.
State certification/licensure in discipline as appropriate. Limited licensure acceptable
Ability to interface professionally with a diverse clientele, including management, community resources and other professional entities.
30 hours of Gambling training/certification. HMSA will provide the 30 hours training, which must be completed with in first week of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Provides accurate screening, identification, evaluation and assessment, telephonically of individual’s who present gambling issues. As appropriate, client’s employer/supervisor may be involved.
- Provides problem clarification and short-term counseling, telephonically at times convenient to the client and/or family. Referrals made to affiliate providers as appropriate to the client's needs.
- Providers oversight and utilization management functions with open gambling cases.
- Facilitates appropriate and necessary referrals to community resources, including referrals to gambling affiliate providers, mental health and substance abuse providers, assist with problem resolution in the quickest, least restrictive, most convenient, and least costly manner possible.
- Provides follow-up services for all referrals, and/or referrals to community resources at scheduled intervals, monitoring and evaluating client satisfaction and need for further assistance.
- Ensures that timely and accurate submission of required data is achieved; including the ability to maintain and utilize electronic medical records.
- Maintains case records, assuring that documentation is available, accurate and in compliance with occupational and mental health standards, as well as client data gathering procedures.
- Provides, as needed, emergency/crisis counseling services OVER THE PHONE to individuals as clinically appropriate.
- Engages in promotional activities, as requested by management to increase the Gambling Help Line visibility.
- Participates in staff meetings, case conferences, and other quality assurance activities of the program.
- Conducts all services and job-related functions in a manner consistent with applicable professional and ethical standards.
- Stay abreast of new information related to services provided.
